Why Movement Matters

We believe something powerful happens when students step away from their everyday routines and make room for God. Movement Retreat creates space for students to ask questions, deepen their faith, and build friendships with people who will encourage them to follow Jesus.

Throughout the weekend, students will be surrounded by trusted Brave Youth leaders who care about them. Our hope is that every student leaves with a deeper love for Jesus, stronger community, and a heart for heaven.

FIND RETREAT RULES HERE!

Who is Movement Retreat for?
Movement Retreat is for middle and high school students! Whether your student is new to church or has been coming for years, they are welcome. This weekend is designed to help students build friendships, grow in their faith, and learn more about following Jesus.

Are students allowed to come and go during the retreat?
Once students are checked in, we ask that they remain with the retreat for the full weekend so our team can provide consistent supervision. If your student needs to arrive late or leave early, please arrange this ahead of time by emailing daniel@brave.church. Any emergency departure must be authorized by a parent or guardian and coordinated with our team.

What are the sleeping arrangements?
Students will stay overnight at Brave Church Dublin. Girls will sleep in the auditorium, and boys will sleep in the gym, with adult leaders supervising each area. Students should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and sleeping pad for sleeping on the floor.

What if there is an emergency?
Our team will contact parents or guardians using the emergency contact information provided during registration. Please make sure this information is accurate. To add an emergency contact, email daniel@brave.church.

If you need to reach your student during the retreat, contact Pastor Daniel Kopti at 925-998-9330. Our team will coordinate with emergency services as needed and communicate with families about any changes to the retreat or pick-up arrangements.

What is the plan for meals?
We’ll have Chick-fil-A dinner on Friday, breakfast on Saturday, lunch during our Boardwalk visit, and dinner back at church before the closing session. Details about whether Boardwalk lunch is included or requires spending money will be shared before the retreat.

Please list any food allergies or dietary restrictions during registration so our team can follow up with you about accommodations.

Should students bring extra spending money?
Students may want spending money for snacks, souvenirs, and optional purchases at the Boardwalk. We’ll confirm any required lunch money and what the Boardwalk ticket includes before the retreat.

What will students do throughout the weekend?
Friday includes dinner, worship, teaching, small groups, late-night fun, and an overnight stay at church. Saturday includes breakfast, a morning session, small groups, a trip to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and dinner back at church before our closing session.

How will the Boardwalk trip work?
Students and leaders will travel together by bus from Brave Church Dublin to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and return to church that evening. Students will be expected to stay in approved areas and follow our team’s group, check-in, and supervision instructions. Additional trip details will be shared before the retreat.

When will students have their phones?
We want students to be fully present, build friendships, and engage in worship, teaching, and small groups. Our final phone policy, including expectations for the Boardwalk trip, will be shared before the retreat. Parents can contact Pastor Daniel directly whenever they need to reach their student.

How does medication drop-off work?
Please bring any medication in its original labeled packaging, inside a bag marked with your student’s name. At check-in, parents should connect with our team to review instructions, storage, and access needs, including any emergency medication. Additional medication procedures will be shared before the retreat.

What should students pack?
Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad, Bible, notebook, pen, toiletries, comfortable clothes, walking shoes, and a warm jacket for the Boardwalk. Pack for one overnight stay and a full day outside.

What weather should we check?
Check the forecast for Dublin and Santa Cruz. Students should bring layers for changing temperatures and cooler coastal weather. If weather affects our Boardwalk plans, we’ll communicate any changes with families.
